Why learn to swim?

Learning to swim means you gain fitness, have fun, and learn essential life skills. At BaySwim we teach Tauranga locals of all abilities, young and old, how to be safe and confident around the water.

Pre School Lessons
For 3-5 years

Our swimming lessons focus on toddlers being comfortable in the water and teaching them basic co-ordination, as well as early awareness and survival skills.

School Age Swimming
For 5-16 years

These swimming classes run five days a week during term time and have a strong focus on developing swimming technique – they’re run by ability rather than by age.

Adult Classes
For 16+ years

It’s never too late to learn to swim! We offer weekday lessons over three levels; beginners, improvers and technique. Private lessons are also available!

Developed by Olympians.

Our swim school follows the multi-award-winning Northern Arena programme, specially developed by NZ Olympic Swimmers, Dean Kent and Mark Saunders.

Stay & Play

Our Swim School offers unrivalled value for money. After each lesson, BaySwim students are free to stay and play in our pools and they can come back and practice and play at any time for free! BaySwim students also get to swim for free at Otumoetai Pools and Memorial Pools too.

Get swimming.

We enrol new swimmers all year round and will do our best to slot you into an existing class with those of similar ability. For those under three you can enrol in any class with a vacancy, and for those over three, simply book a free assessment so we can find the right level for you or your child and we’ll let you know what’s available at your preferred pool.
